This course is specifically designed to enable teacher assistants and teachers to support the struggling reader in small groups and individually.

The course leads participants to an understanding of how students learn to read with emphasis on teaching reading strategies explicitly.

The reading cues of meaning, structure and visual cues are examined. This course underlines the importance of ensuring comprehension is the springboard for reading. The course focuses on methods for motivating students in reading and setting students up for successful reading.
